I want to know where the hell was secret service??? Why weren't they throwing themselves in front of the shoes? What if the shoes were loaded with plastique or something? You look at the old Ronald Reagan assassination attempt videos you have staffers, secret service agents, and simple beat cops jumping in front of the gun and grabbing the guy. M10s and Uzis come out of coats of the secret service and they got Reagan the feck out of there quickly.

My short answer: Reagan was respected. Makes my skin crawl. I'm not saying Reagan was a fantastic president but he did earn respect and his people gave their lives for him. I don't see that ever happening for an non-respected president.
