Diablo III: Blizzard Officially Announces the Return
It's been nearly 8 years since Blizzard has graced the gaming world with its calling call from the Diablo series, Diablo II was released for the Windows and Mac OS format in 2000 and by spring of 2001 Diablo II had become the most popular online game in RPG/Hack n' Slash history at that date.

Today, Blizzard announced on June 28th, 2008 the long awaited sequel, Diablo III. Diablo III, like its predecessor, it is promised to be an action packed RPG. It was unveiled at Blizzard's World Wide Invitational in Paris, France today - C'est incroyable!

Blizzard states while gameplay in Diablo III will retain the overall feel of the original from the series, Diablo III will focus more on team based game play. The new game engine has included Havok physics and features destructible game environments with permanent damage effects.

The devs are working on cross-gaming formats so that Diablo III may run on a wide range of systems. They continue to state that DirectX 10 will not be required but will enhance the gaming experience. The game will be released ONLY ON WINDOWS PC and MAC OS PLATFORMS. They have no plans for release on gaming consoles - check one for the win column for PC gamers!

Online multiplayer games will use Blizzard's Battle.net service, which is the same online features for the Starcraft series (yes, Starcraft II has been announced as well...). Online players will be able to drop in and out of cooperative game play with others. The quest game play system states it uses a random level generator to guarantee a different gaming experience each time you play from encounters to randomly generated levels.

Finally, Diablo III uses the same overhead game play view. They state this will make the game play simple and the developers say if you can click a mouse you can play Diablo III.
