at the moment it is like a whole new game with the inclusion of wormholes and the systems they (can) lead to
the longevity of the game has to be the skill training system
not being able to make ISK (money) like others seem to
needing to go to work.

p.s normaly there is approx over 5500 systems in the game, the wormhole addin has brought in another 2300

Basically, it's a huge game and I found it very boring at first. But then you'll find yourself doing something else and suddenly you get this urge to go play it. I think it's partly the incentive to get these really cool huge ships but also you'll meet some really decent people on there that will want you to come along and help them do some missions.

Also hanging around with players that had played it for years meant they gave me all their trash which to me was gold dust :D I also enjoyed stealing people's stuff for a while and watching them get pissed off

Also the visuals were cool.

I stopped because it cost too much and it was distracting me away from scum. Also when you got down to it, it's a really boring game with loads of grinding. Despite what eve players say, it's still grinding.

if you had the isk you could buy one. but you couldnt fly it
as i said b4, you need to get the skills, not just to fly , but to fit it out as well

and NO i am not a salesman so am no good at selling things

there are many different ways to make isk
trade on the market. some ppl never fly a ship or leave the station. they just sit in station playing the markets

you can do missions, but unless you can do lvl4 missions is very slo as the gain is very little

mining. this can be very profitable, but depends on your skills

skills
all you need is a skill book. if you satisfy the prerequisites you can start the skill righjt away

it is all based on time. each skill has 5 lvls. you have do the lvls in sequence ,,, 1-5
it takes a finite amount of real time to complete the skill lvl, anything from a few minutes upto 60 days for some lvl 5's
you cannot use an item/ship until you have all the skills required
hence the longevity.
you can only do 1 skill at a time
the skills are broken down into catergories

corporation management
drones
electronics
gunnery
industry
learning
mechanic
missile launcher operation
navigation
scieance
social
spaceship command
trade

atm i have 200 skills out of over 350

you can just grind away, but there is so much more to this game

i agree. there is a vast amount of things to do tobe able to fly a ship, but and its a big but, once you can fly a ship, it doesnt mean you can have it for very long if you dont have the skills to protect it, as tommee just said, there are many skils and unfortunatley there is always someone betterthan you with more skills and the norm is thay like to watch shiny things (your ship being one) go boom, but there is an upside, theres areas called "highesc" which prohibit said people from poping your shiney new ship, over all it is a very addictive game once you get into it

and you can play it at your own pace. you can go pirating, looking for fights. or just mining or trading or get into manufacture, invention, production

you also need lots of time to play :)
you also need to be online to change skill/ start a new one which has stopped ppl goin off for months while the long skills get finished

no. it is not a requirement of the game.
but it depends on how you want to play the game, it is so much better in a team than working alone

there are great advantages to joining corps like poeple to help/talk to and some dis advantages like having a "war dec" which is when another corp declares war on your corp, meaning they can then destroy your ship and "pod" you (destroy your escape capsule, putting your wee pink bum out in the cold)

i haven't played for a fair while (when gf's say stuff is 'ours' it also seems to include time) but what is there not to love and hate about this game.

the character development is pretty cool in that its time that is the grind, not ratting. Queue up a few skills and you can leave it for 24 hours without having to go back. However, if you forget to skill change you are paying for nothing (while at work etc).

deciding about what your aim in the game is going to be is pretty hard work. my first goal was to fly a battlecruiser with Tech 2 stuff, and pretty much be the warrior class of most other MMORPG's, going out fighting, being part of gangs. It's pretty basic and to follow this route as there are so many specialised ships that are 1/10th of the size but could take you down.

so the fighting is a game on its own, there are so many things to take into account when you go out to fight, DPS, total ship HP's, Drones, signal jamming / boosting, Rigs, what ammo type, what gun type......and the list goes on. There are so many ship types and then to multiply that by the 4 different races gives you a rediculous amount of variation.

making money seems to be the grind for EVE, although you can get round this (illegally by CCP) which is to buy isk online, generally you can get 200mil for under £5 and if you find a site that delivers VIA contract as apposed to trade, it is quite hard to trace. Even if they do catch you you tend to get a warning.....1 month ban.....EVE banning 3 strike rule.

in game there are as many ways and more to make money than there are to do battle. Mining, salvaging, ratting, trading in shares, buying and selling, hauling, selling blueprints, production....it is epic.

the first rule of EVE (as i see it) is 'dont fly what you cant afford to loose'. this is particularly annoying after you've spent a few nights making the perfect spec for your 150mil ship, buying all the items, rigs and ammo (maybe another 100mil) fitting it, working out all your ranges, optimals and how long and much damage you can take and for how long..........after all of this, going outside into the big bad ...space? and getting completely owned by a pirate gang can result in a fist through the keyboard and the computer given the courtesy of the 6 second shutdown, you dont even exit the gamne, just hold the power button and stalk away muttering how you hate this f**king game.

If EVE had to be summed up in 1 word? id say screw you, no word is epic enough....except maybe epic. But it is the the only game ive played which has had me stumpped, with no idea what im doing next or how to get there. after the tutorial, you can be on your own unless you join a corp.

Have fun
its just a sig <---who wrote this?
