Internet Connection Drops

Postby [SCUM] Leroy » 14 Sep 2009, 16:39

Lately I've been having a bit of an issue with my internet. It drops and in my router config it shows the internet connection status as:

IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway: 0.0.0.0
DNS 1: 0.0.0.0
DNS 2: 0.0.0.0
DNS 3: 0.0.0.0
WINS: 0.0.0.0

Rather than the normal 192.X.X.X and 255.X.X.X etc. Normally I could fix this by either powering it down for a few mins or by using the repair function in network connections, but today it didn't work for about 8 hours.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

I had a problem like this which was due to my router overheating. Have you tried bypassing the router to isolate the problem?

Overheating would make a lot sense actually - though this morning it went down after about 30 mins of use. I tried to use a BT HomeHub they randomly sent me a while ago but that takes years to "verify" the broadband connection. I'll keep looking for solutions on the internets.
