Neverwinter Nights 2 : Mysteries of Westgate Adventure Pack

Postby [SCUM] McPhil » 06 May 2008, 16:52

Due out any day now. Atari held the release for April 30th because Atari is using new security software and MoW is going to pilot this new anti-/*haxzor/ software. Atari has upset a good portion of the Neverwinter Nights Series supporters over the delay. The new release date is supposed to be May 15th. We'll see.

The Neverwinter Nights Series grew out of the Baldur's Gate Series back about 8 years ago. Neverwinter Nights has a large cult following. Ossian Studios have done a great job keeping the base games, modules and adventure packs timely and great game play. Neverwinter Nights Series is not a MMO. It is your good old fashion hack n'slash with a plot, great cut scenes, and they usually have an interesting story to follow and keep track of while playing.

MoW should be interesting, but I bet the new Atari security is going to make online play nearly impossible until they tweak it. Not sure where BioWare fit in the picture but they have their name in there too.

Atari has frozen the release of this game. Atari is attempting to try a new exe wrapper (DNR ?) to secure against software hacking. Evidently because the game has yet to be released we are assuming they do not have a solution yet...

The new ETA of September 19th has come to pass. No the Atari gurus are saying "TBA 2009". Way to go Atari. I'm going to go get my 2600 out of the closet and use it as a door stop for the next few days to vent my frustration. ::)

Just keep in mind the game is ready. It's the exe wrapper that is holding off release of the game. the DRM is supposed to be the stop all haxzor. Well I think they got their money's worth as you can't hack a game if it's not available. ::) Great thinking Atari business devs! Way to lead the field in copyright protection!
