Neverwinter Nights 3 - Finally Not a MMORPG ?

Postby [SCUM] McPhil » 25 Aug 2010, 02:45

So yes, I've been playing Bioware's RPG since back in the Baldur's Gate day of 1998. Since they have released sequel after sequel and as the online players came out in masses Baldur's gate slowly morphed into the marginally successful Icewind Dale then to the ultimate Neverwinter Nights series. If you're ever board I highly recommend you grabbing old copies of Baldur's Gate I and II and starting from there. So fast-forwarding to 2006 Atari dumped Bioware and picked up Obsidian to make Neverwinter Nights 2, a pure RPG with several expansion and action packs (action packs typically lack any depth so I typically avoid these).

The community has been turned on its head with the quiet chatter about Neverwinter Nights 3 as official sources announced last year that it was being developed as a MMO and not a core RPG. What I mean by that is - I have a life and I only need to escape in short segments, which a traditional RPG offers my busy online gaming friend's lifestyle and mine. An MMO doesn't. Traditional RPG players will refuse to play MMO, even if it comes packaged with the great name of NWN. So much to my surprise when I was sent an email from an online gaming this link:

Not ones in this article did they mention MMO. Holy crap I'm ready to believe it. Dwarf on 1/4 impulse Scotie.
