Re: New card
Unless my freind at HP can get me a meatier PSU I'm gonna send the sodding thing back and wait a little longer with what I've got.
Then build me a proper kick ass machine...... as long as the woman does'nt find out

I think it just has a slimline PSU the model is xw6000 workstation duel 2.8 xeon cpu. thing is I don't wanna end up spending a heap of cash on this machine if poss, as it's already a few years old.
Any suggestions welcome

Do you have access to an old ATX case? If so, just rebuild the fecker in the ATX case and bang you can use a new ATX power supply.
Question: How are you fitting the video card in your slimline???

McPhill the case isn't slimline as such just slimmer than a standard ATX (HP proprietary)

I know nothing about the warranty if it blows. If you can fit a standard ATX power supply that should sort your problems 100%; however an 880Watt PSU might be over kill for an AGP system. if you map your wattage needs of all current components excluding external USB peripherals, I think you'll see what PSU wattage you'd need.

Thought - How many pin connector on your motherboard? I'm guessing your motherboard will have a legacy 20-pin female connector for the PSU and the new PSU will only have a 24-pin male connector. You'll either need a 20 to 24 pin adapter or you'll need to make sure the PSU has a "4-pin break-away" section to fit your legacy board.
