Noble Peace Prize for President Obama

Postby [SCUM] McPhil » 09 Oct 2009, 15:18

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... nners.html

...with this in mind, the head commander on the ground in Afghanistan is calling for 40,000 more US troops. Do you think Obama will do it? It seems a prize of peace would indicate no, but the extreme right in the country are demanding blood still from 9/11.

Turn a check or revenge?

Yeah Speedy - McPhil is using that leftist rag the Telegraph as his source again

A bit premature me thinks. Obama is still in the process of actually achieving what he talks about. Gitmo is still open, healthcare hangs in the balance and Afghanistan is going from bad to worse. Also this is the same prize that went to Norman Borlaug in 1970...therefore Borlaug should get a new posthumous Super Ultimate Peace Prize - he truly deserved it.

Email from my buddy Obama...

==============

This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.

That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.

This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.

So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Shows how ignorant people are in a small town - today my friends said he only got it "just because he's the first black president". Half joking aside, ignorance bleeds everywhere. Nobody bothers to actually read about something before having an opinion on it anymore. Failing f***ing species x(

If his mom was a white woman from Kansas, the middle of the USA and the bible belt of the world, is he black? His critics say he's not black, his lesser critics say he's not black enough, the extreme right says he needs to be taken out because even if you're 1/100th black you're less... if you live in America, you're blood has been thinned by the blood of your intruders. We are American. Europe did not want us so we left. The east imprisoned us, so we left. The Portuguese enslaved us so we came here under duress and were sold to the highest bidder at auction.

Being black or any minority in American is not easy. Before Obama, black people would say that they pay taxes and die. Now they can pay taxes, be president and die. So here, now, all of its citizen can. Yes we can.

I hope this Noble Peace Prize is something more prophetic for us as a nation...
