PES 2009 shaping up to be the best next-gen football game

Postby [SCUM] OUTLAW » 20 Aug 2008, 12:30

Oooh, this is is getting to be one close race for the next-gen soccer title! PESFan has posted up a PlayTest report on PES 2009 and report it may well be the best next gen football game on the market. The developers seem to have gone back to PES 5 and developed things from there, on the plus side there is no slow down, silly runs from 60 yards, and essentially the game just feels like PES of the old complete with Champions League mode. Providing they can sort out some issues such as soft defending on corners and flickering replays, then its on course to give FIFA a proper run for its money!

quote:

If you search through this site you will not find any comments from me about PES 6 or 8. The PES version of choice in the office for the past 2 years has remained the PS2 version (essentially PES 5). For the first time it looks like we might finally get a next gen version of PES worthy enough to make the jump.

It feels as if the developers have gone back to PES 5 and developed from there. The results mean it not only plays like 5 but all the problems of 6 and 8 are erased.

On the good side there’s NO SLOW DOWN, no 60 yard cheap runs, no 1/2 way line goals, keepers are better and the whole game just feels like PES as you know it. Combine that with new Legends modes, Champions League mode and a more complete edit mode and things are looking promising.

On the bad side there was some soft defending on corners, teams tended to collapse after a few goals went in and then some minor gripes with flickering replays and unfinished kits, but with two months to go there’s plenty of time to get these ironed out.

For me the one thing I'm now praying for is that they finally sort out the online problems, if they can nail that then we will have the best next gen football game on the market

World Cup mode comes to FIFA 09 on PS3, not 360

Internet reports indicate that the secret game mode in the PS3 version of FIFA 09 is the FIFA Interactive World Cup. Great mode to have, but the clubs is what FIFA 09 is all about!

Konami have announced that demos for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will be available Thursday, 2nd October. The demo will allow football fans to try out the game in a 5 minute friendly match and also let you try out multiplayer. The demo will feature the the Italian and French national teams plus the following club teams: Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona.

The demo will focus on a five-minute exhibition match, fit for multiplayer, and will also include promo videos for the new "Become a Legend" and online "Legends" modes, where you control one player on a team throughout the match, rather than swapping control between players.

bullshit. I remember beating you like 10-1 at PES4 on the PC.

I'm not really that excited about this pes tbh. Especially having played both fifa 08 and pes 2008.
