More Alone Time?

Situation: Girlfriend doesn't seem to understand gaming is like crack to me, i not only want to play, i feel i need to to relax. It's not a big thing, i dont make a fuss, and im a pretty easy going guy........but, when i say i would like an evening to play games, i get the age old 'so you dont want to spend time with me?' and the doey eyes.

What I've tried: told her gently it wasn't that i dont want to spend time with her, i just want to spend time with the games or playing online with a sweet team shooting the shit out of something / someone and that, if she wanted, she could play with me

When this didn't work: I LAID THE SMACKDOWN!!!! (dont tell her i said that)

basically, what i would like to know is:

1) anyone have this problem
2) your solution
3) what games you all play on pc and the 360. i wouldn't mind to start playing COD on pc again but before that i need the uber-tron 4000 pc that should be here in 30 days.

I know someone who's girlfriend left him because he couldn't leave the ps3 alone lol

I tell my wife that all men need their "cave". A million years of evolution still hasn't removed the need for isolating yourself from intelligent conversation, arguing or thinking... The need for a few hours a week to lock n' load with a familiar group of people and just turn your brain off is overwhelming at times.

The only way to combat it successfully is to get her involved in your games too. Most times, she'll get it once she's involved. Slap some old PC parts together, put in a decent video card and have a few games online with her involved. She wants to be involved with you. Be yourself and invite her in. If she gets it, you'll be more relaxed as a person in general because "your woman" will have something else in common with you. Good luck.

I don't have a problem unless I neglect her for days on end. Currently spending a lot of time with her because next month she is away for exams. That means speedy is gonna blitz COD4 throughout May

well, i tried the cave thing....... we ended up arguing on the phone for an hour and a half, we are fine now, went camping for someones birthday and everything is fine, i gave her rollercoaster tychoon while i play rome, but still........

i want to play as part of a team again...
