Re: Linux - Ubuntu
What features does Debian have that Ubuntu doesn't? Would you choose it over Ubuntu because its the most popular so it has the most usability?

Re: Linux - Ubuntu
oh ok!
no reason really m8. Just that I tried it before and could never figure out how to use it. I think Debian is more popular isn't it?
Now we have a resident Linux expert I am happy to try again!
McPhil, can you send me some fast memory and maybe a mass storage device for my brain?

Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) is out. Still checking out whats new apart from a few obvious cosmetic changes. Upgrade via Update Manager went smoothly and took ~one hour.

Re: Linux - Ubuntu
totally wiped windows from my laptop and it is now a Linux laptop!
It only has 512mb of memory but ubuntu runs super sweet! Just goes to show how much resources windows actually uses!

Ha cool m8. I might put Ubuntu on our laptop - which is quite old with 256mb RAM / some ancient CPU - might stop it getting screwed up periodically with malware by the less technologically inclined in the house
