Re: New PS3 coming.
well that would kinda be like if windows anounced that windows 7 is everything that vista was supposed to be and more....but it doesnt play any 2000/ME/XP or vista games, people would go apeshit for good reason, why should you pay extra for an old console to play games because the new console doesnt support them.
Before you say what about snes/n64 and dreamcast blah blah, remember that the wii still accepts old gamecube games, it even accepts the old bloody controlers, i mean the 360 accepts old xbox games and it accepts old controlers, but the ps3 (slim) does neither
not chuffed...at all

Re: New PS3 coming.
Thats a good argument and the only way to retort is to view this from a personal level.
If i wanted to play PS2 games i'd boot them up on my PS2,and i assume that if anyone had PS2 games they'd have a PS2 to play them on in the first place.
Seems as though,Sony took BC away to lower costs ,which was what people wanted and tbh i cant really think of any games out of the hundreds i have i want to play and even though some of them are great ,time passes and so do games.
So the question really is would you rather have a price cut or the ability to play a few crusty(great) games ,if you already have PS3 then its a mute point as you should be able to play ur PS2 games ,if you haven't you have to ask yourself ,whats more atractive,BC or cheaper console.

Re: New PS3 coming.
ok, yea i see your point in that, but you were saying bout the cost to stick in the BC (not sure what that is), but i thought the ability to play ps2 games was a (relativley) arbitrery bit of code, doesnt the BR diode also read other types of disc like DVD-ROM, so the cost of putting that lil bit of code in should be negligable, an extra 2 minute install.
You were also saying about people having ps2's before going for the ps3, but unfortunatley as when the ps3 first came out is was expensive, and alot of families just coulnt shell out that kinda cash, so they stuck with the ps2 but now most game stores are doing trade ins for old games and the like, do they not also do trade ins for old consols for in store credit/money off or cash in hand, which would mean that because now the ps3 is at its cheapest you could trade in your ps2 now for miby £50 which could go towards the new ps3.
Miby its as simple as space, i mean would you want a ps2 and a ps3 sitting side by side for no good reason other than sony wouldnt add that extra 2 minutes to the OS install time?
Your thoughts mister smarty pants....dont be to rough on me now
