Over-parenting

Postby [SCUM] McPhil » 06 Feb 2010, 17:58

Whether you're a parent or your a kid with crazy parents, this is a pretty good article on the damages of Over-parenting. Sort of cool as the result of over-parenting seems to have the opposite of the intended effect.

Death by injury has dropped more than 50% since 1980, yet parents lobbied to take the jungle gyms out of playgrounds, and strollers suddenly needed the warning label "Remove Child Before Folding."

Very true, I like to think that when I have kids I'll be able to parent them better than half the families I see every day

It takes a lot of patience to allow your kids the freedom to experiment and fail when you have the answer already. But then I think about why or how I got that answer... experimenting and failing. I pulled myself up by my own boot straps because I had no one around to help.

So kids, when your dad or mum tell you to get off the computer and study or take the rubbish out, just smile and know your parents are tormented inside as well. :gluk:
