What did you use for the stress test?
Hop on xfire tomorrow. I have a couple of files for you to further test your rig.
Final thought - your video card driver could be corrupt but without more information, it's hard to tell. Can you run COD5? Can you run WinAMP's visualization mode while playing an aggressive MP3? Can you Photoshop Sarah Palin's head on a porn star's body?

The 2 progs you sent me Burn in and teh other one that I can't remember the name of
Not got COD5 but I could run the BETA til it started crashing.
Going to try reinstalling a few games and seeing if any others are affected.

Tried new gphrx drivers ?
Updated Direct X ? COD4 & 5 require latest MS download.
got enough memory ?
Have you removed the dust from inside the case ? (I had I/O issues with dust) dodgy cable as well.

He's running ECC registered memory in a massive workstation server. I'm wondering if the memory can't keep up with the data parsed and it's creating a critical bottleneck....?
Or I money is on a driver issue.
What to part out that bitch for a new kit?
I can sell that Xeon, the rest of your kit I'd need part numbers.

Re: Riddle me this......
Weird thing is this machine has been super stable since I've had it with not one prob. The issues I'm experiencing now started since....
A: Playing COD5 beta
B: Installing HD3850 gfx card briefly (then sending it back for a refund and reinstalling my A7600gt)
To date I have reinstalled XP and updated everything to the most current versions. The only thing I haven't checked that I think it might be is a heat issue with the GPU, as when I had the card out I gave it a dust off and may of disturbed the heat sink in the process of cleaning it. Going to pop out in a bit and get some heat paste to reseat it.
McPhil if I can't get this sodding machine sorted I might take you up on your generous offer

Hey Guys - sorry took a short holiday. 10 year anniversery with the wife. At 10 years you get to call her the wife without getting in trouble cause she knows you love her by now and she can't be arsed with your sophomoric tone...
Anyway, just to meantion, I've done some benchmarking on COD5:
Sempron 2600+ AM2
ASUS motherboard
4GB (4x1GB) ECC unbuffered PC2-6400
74GB SCSI drive
with ATI X850 XTPE 256MB - COD5 loads with no video but audio is working.
with ATI X1800 XT 512MB - COD5 loads with video and sound - works fine.
with nVidia 6800 GTX 256MB - COD5 loads with no video but audio is working.
with nVidia 7800 GTX 512MB - COD5 loads with video and sound - works fine.
DX driver undated on the November 20th, 2008 version.
ATI and nVidia drivers are all updated as of November.
It is my estimation that the current drivers available for legacy video cards are not up to snuff.
Ferol - whatever you need to stay on top with us. From the heart - no worries. PM me what you want to do.
