Spybot vs Ad-aware vs Spyware Doctor

Postby [SCUM] McPhil » 24 Feb 2009, 18:37

So I've installed Spybot, Ad-aware and Spyware Doctor on three different computers with the same specs. They all are running Vista Home Premium x86 Edition. I had one of my people help me run the browsers to all of the same websites (dodgy and big industry sites) using IE7.

Ad-aware was the only one to find a Trojan in the winsocks directory and 3 suspicious files, but Spybot found 46 files to delete. Spyware Doctor only found 8 cookies.

I'm just curious what opinion everyone has on these types of products and what do you use?

I use spybot, have been for a few years. Resident protection is very good.

I like to use my computer as a honeypot, find out where the hackers live and then bludgeon them with a rusty axe.

I find this option VERY effective.

I so wish I still had moderator powers - just too tempting to edit Speedy's post :P
