Test Your Computer's Security: GRC | ShieldsUP!
ShieldsUP! https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
I found this website via the bitdefender forum about a known issue that locks up your email and browsers.
If you use Vista (x86 or x64) operating system and have Zonelabs' Zonealarm Firewall installed you may experience your browser locking up. Any attempt to close the browser process in the Task Manager >> Processes list still will not close the browser process. This occurs with several email clients too (Outlook, Eudora, Windows Mail, etc...).
The thread was discussing different options for a firewall and there were many different opinions. One poster left the link above and it's a pretty cool website by a guy named Steve who'll test your security for free. Make sure you read everything on the page to understand what you're doing.
Yes - I would have posted the link to the bitdefender website but the forum thread seems to have been removed by the bitdefender moderators. I guess the bitdefender moderators didn't want people to know their firewall product didn't pass all the security tests from the GRC website but zonealarm did.
I would like to get rid of zonealarm because my browser's keep locking up but I'm not sure what firewall will pass all of the GRC tests. If you use a different firewall product (Comodo, McAfee, etc...) would you test your browser at the GRC website and post back here if it passed or not?

I uninstalled zonealarm and in installed the Comodo internet security suite product (free). It passed all tests and my browser or outlook has not locked up in about 18 hours. It's like a new computer!
