US President Obama to give first State of the Union speech

Tonight at 9pm Eastern / 8pm Central time President Obama is to give his first State of the Union speech. He'll review his first year in office, the successes, the failures and the challenges ahead.

I hoping he names the names of the people slowing his policy change attempt or will he go forth with the status quo "Yes We Can" or should it be the amended version of yes we can if only the democratic party would stop eating itself from the inside out.

I just finished delivering my first State of the Union address.

I set out an urgent plan for restoring economic security for struggling middle class families. This is my top priority, but I cannot do it alone -- and that's why I'm writing to you now.

Tonight, I called on Congress to enact reforms and new initiatives to defend the middle class -- to create millions of new jobs, support small businesses, and drive up wages; to invest in the education of our children and the clean energy technology that must power our future; and to protect the economy from reckless Wall Street abuses.

And I made my position on health reform clear: We must not walk away. We are too close, and the stakes are too high for too many. I called on legislators of both parties to find a way to come together and finish the job for the American people.

I have no illusions -- there have been setbacks, and there will be more to come. The special interests who have shaped the status quo will keep fighting tooth and nail to preserve it.

So tonight, I'm asking you to join me in the work ahead. I need your voice. I need your passion. And I need your support.

You should have seen it. Republicans never stood up for anything the President had to say. The republicans never putting their hands together for anything the President had to say. But I, an American - a true American - this is my country - will not waiver in my commitment to fight for the middle class, to fight to help to put food and the table of those who can not afford to feed their own, and to support the agenda of those few statesmen, not politicians. President Barack Obama is one of the true statesmen. We are lucky to know of him.

What a f***ing speech. We are so close to really change. It's right in front of me. The only impasse is the staunch right who only want to see President Obama fail just because he's black, just because he's fighting for the middle class. Shame on you good Senators. Shame on all of you.
