Windows 7 - Should I?

Postby [SCUM] Speedy » 25 Oct 2009, 16:32

There's a great offer on for students to get Windows 7 for £30. The big question is, should I get it? I'm all for a change but I'd like to know if there are any serious bugs or conflict issues that will effect me. Also, what's the system load like? Are my games going to run shit with all those extra graphics in the background?

If it's Windows 7 x86 you need a minimum of 2GB of memory. If it's Windows 7 64-bit edition you will need a minimum of 4GB of memory. Optimal performance is 6GB or higher.

Check your system specs and make sure you can upgrade your system before upgrading your OS. Upgrading from XP to Windows 7 is extremely difficult and for most users, it will require a complete wipe and reload.

BF1942 and BF2 does not work with Windows 7. BF2142, COD4, CODWAW does.

Make sure there is a graphics driver for your video card with Windows 7. As well the #1 issue with people upgrading is they can't find a printer driver to work with Windows 7 and their printer. You might research that and then factor it into the cost of upgrading.

Aww, no more 42 :( I'll probably get the 32bit home version unless you recommend 64bit?

been running x64 windows 7 for a few months now... must say its genious. its like they took XP, made it look like vista on steroids and thats what ur left with.. something wich runs smooth as silk and looks like something you'd be proud to take home to your mother... in other words its brill! oh and the backward compatability function works a treat... the only program that i cant get to work wis nero 7. everything else i usede to use on my xp system works fine!!

for that price mate its worth buying !

I've got an apple, the beauty is you can use this little program they have called Boot Camp so you can start up in either the Mac OS or another of your choice :) as long as you have to installation disk to install it the first time :P
